New This Year (2024 Outdoor Season)

U11 and older players will be required at the time of registration to upload a picture of the player.  These should be head shots with the player facing the camera directly.  Pictures will be used for player cards required as of the 2024 outdoor season for all out of district tournament play (including the Camrose Night Classic).  Photos need to be uploaded early in order for LDSA to authorize, print, and get player cards out to clubs.  To ensure this occurs speedily, pictures will be mandatory to upload at the time of registration.

Volunteer Requirements

As a not-for-profit organization, Vermilion Soccer Association needs parents and community members to volunteer to ensure a season can occur.   Therefore, there is an expectation with your registration that you will volunteer a minimum amount of time for each child who is registered with VSA.

Age Group Volunteer Time Requirement
U5 3 Hours
Mini-aged (U7, U9, U11) 6 Hours
Youth-aged (U13, U15, U17, U19) 8 Hours

*There is a maximum number of 20 hours of volunteering required by families with multiple children registered.

Volunteers can sign up to coach, assistant coach, or manage a team or sign up to be an executive member through the same registration site as players.  Signing up to coach in any division or manager for U13 - U19 covers all volunteer hours for all players.  Assistant coaching U7 - U19 or managing a U7, U9, or U11 team covers the volunteer hours for one child.

If a volunteer is interested in another opportunity to get involved, you can find a list of vacant and taken board and executive positions on our website. Parents signing up to be on the VSA executive or serve a board position will have all hours for all players covered.  Please email vermsoccer.president@gmail.com if you are interested in one of these positions even if they are filled.  Volunteers change and shift between seasons and succession planning is an important part of a successfully run organization.

If you are interested in being a coach, assistant coach or manager for U7, U9, or U11, please contact our mini director by emailing vermsoccer.minidirector@gmail.com.  If you are interested in being a coach, assistant coach or manager for U13, U15, U17, or U19, please contact our youth director by emailing vermsoccer.youthdirector@gmail.com.

There are also hourly positions available in the form of work bees, tournament help, and equipment organizing.  Check the website under Volunteer Here! to sign up for hourly shifts.

Volunteer bonds can be provided as two checks postdated to May 31, 2024 and June 30, 2024 each written out for $100. Alternatively, bonds can be provided in cash or etransfer. Cash and etransfers will be returned at the end of the season if all volunteer hours have been completed.  Bond checks will be shredded.

Bonds are required for each player.

Refunds

1) All refunds are subject to a minimum $40.00 administration fee, except where refunds are given for lack of registrations in the age group, and must be approved by the Executive.

2) Request for a refund must be sent in writing (email) to the registrar vsa.reg.agm@gmail.com stating the reason.

3) No refunds will be allowed once registrations have closed for the season.

4) Refunds may be granted should a player incur an injury that hinders their participation in training or games. The refund will be prorated minus all non-refundable charges.

5) Refunds will be granted without the requirement of written request if there are not enough players to field a team.

6) When the registrar receives a refund request, it will go through the approval process and be forwarded to the treasurer. The refund should be processed within two weeks.

Deadline

Registration closes on March 31, 2024. Players are not considered registered until all registration fees and bond amounts have been received by the treasurer. Players who have not paid by March 31 will not be placed on a team and players may lose their spot if team rosters are full. Late registrations are accepted on a case by case basis if there is room on the roster for the added player.

Discounts

Families with 3 or more players from the same household registered with VSA will receive a 10% discount on your total registration fees.  This does not apply to volunteer bonds.  The registrar is still learning how to set up the registration site.  If when you register there is an option to put in a discount code, use the code Family 10 for each player being registered. If it does not show up, you will still receive the 10% discount but the discount may not be reflected in the family profile.

Respect In Sport

The Respect in Sport Parent Program is a one-hour online module for parents/guardians. This program empowers parents to ensure the safety of their children, encourage positive and effective communication, and to enhance a child’s overall enjoyment of soccer. The online course costs $12 and is transferable to other sports involved in Respect in Sport. Click here to take the program.

Player Requests

Many times, players will request to be on their friend's team or the team of a cousin, neighbor, or friend.  These requests can be made to the registrar at vsa.reg.agm@gmail.com before the registration deadline.  After that, requests will not be considered.  Requests to be on a particular team will be considered, but not promised.  VSA needs to consider the needs of the teams first and then individual player requests.  Mini aged teams are split to try to ensure equal numbers of girls/boys and first/second years on each team.  When players are added, withdrawn, or request a switch after teams are made, it is extra strain on our volunteers to ensure teams are as equal as we can make them and that coaches have updated rosters sent to them before practices.

Your child will make friends and enjoy themselves no matter what team they are on.  Even if they are not on the same team as their friend.  Kids will learn resilience and meet some new people.  We all want our kids to enjoy their time on the pitch.

Thanks to our field sponsors!
